Like any mythological figure, she is an allegory, a goddess. She is part Virgin Mary, part phone sex operator. A queen at your service. She is a comforting figurehead with a maternal touch. Goddess, fairy, effigy of abundance, fertility symbol… with her many superpowers, she rises above Mr Clean, Betty Crocker and Aunt Jemima. They eat her dust and she doesn’t look back. She doesn't exist but we need to believe in her, conjure her. She is the promise of juicier fruit and bleached hair. She is also the undeniable evidence that I grew up watching too much TV.
