“How I Behave in an Emergency” | A Post-Apocalyptic Domestic Scene Gone Wrong | by Joan Seed

from $600.00

A love letter from Joan

Darling,

They said “stay calm,” so I lit a cigarette, adjusted my bikini, and reclined like a Renaissance painting with no regard for the fire codes. I’ve always found panic to be such an unflattering emotion.

When the world combusts, I prefer to toast marshmallows with my dignity intact. You, of course, would’ve rushed in with a hose and a cape. I brought SPF 30 and a cocktail.

They say she burned the house down. I say she turned it into ambiance. Let the world unravel, love. I’ll be poolside—smoldering in spirit, if not in practice.

Love, Joan

Description:

“How I Behave in an Emergency” is a bold, cinematic pop art collage that explores themes of climate change denial, complacency, and environmental catastrophe. This vintage-inspired 1960s-style artwork juxtaposes a serene figure sunbathing amid an inferno of destruction, evoking questions about privilege, power, and paralysis in the face of global crisis. Perfect for collectors of socio-political art, historical pop surrealism, retro-futurist fine art, or apocalyptic visual commentary.
