“Ride the Snake” | A Conceptual Surrealist Collage in the Language of Myth and Desire | by Joan Seed

from $600.00

A love letter from joan

Darling,

They told me to just “ride it out,” but they failed to mention the serpent had fangs, the forest was full of mirrors, and the destination was somewhere between ecstasy and extinction. Ride the Snake is my tender little lullaby for anyone who’s ever tried to inject a bit of peace into the chaos — with mixed results and questionable company.

Note the arm: steady, exposed, practiced. The branches twist like thoughts you’d rather not have, while nature watches — equal parts indifferent and intimate. There’s poetry in the poison, you see, and beauty in the breakdown. It’s all very Rousseau meets rehab.

If you find this romantic, get help. If you find it honest, welcome home.

Love,

Joan

Description

‘Ride the Snake’ is a striking visual meditation on addiction, vulnerability, and psychological complexity. Combining the organic tension of twisted branches, venomous reptiles, and an exposed arm mid-injection, this collage captures both fragility and strength. Its symbolic richness and emotional gravity make it a compelling acquisition for serious collectors and curators seeking work that interrogates the human experience through surrealism and allegory.
