“Road Trip to Ruin” | A Vintage Muscle Car Surrealist Meditation on Nostalgia and Collapse | by Joan Seed
A love letter from Joan
Darling,
They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions, but I find it's more scenic when lined with vintage chrome, toxic masculinity, and a stubborn refusal to check the map. Roadtrip to Ruin is my elegy to the American Dream — engine revving, oil leaking, and blissfully oblivious to the smoke pouring from the hood.
It’s nostalgia with a death wish. A joyride to nowhere in a car bought on credit and held together by delusion. I wanted to capture that exact moment when freedom becomes inertia, and the top’s down just in time for the mushroom cloud.
Pack light, darling. We won’t be coming back.
Love,
Joan
